Doing my normal short loop bike ride through Sunnyslope. Stop for a quick break near the grade school on Mountain View. Continue east to 7th St.
Multi-alarm fire in Sunnyslope, on east side of 7th St., between Hatcher Rd. and Carol Ave., less than 1/4 mile from Phoenix Fire Department Station 7. Units on scene included: Engine 7, Engine 27, Engine 35, Ladder 20, Battalion Chief 1, Rescue 30, plus others, including at least a half dozen Phoenix Police Department squads. Engine 7 had the heavy flame knocked down inside two minutes. 👍
Name of business unknown, but it is the building immediately to the north of the former Do Drop Inn (a dive bar). Lots of homeless congregate behind those two buildings, so I would not be surprised if it was a burglary/arson or a camp fire that got out of control.
If I hadn’t taken the break, I would have missed the excitement!
