I kept a slow, but steady, pace up the North Mountain road. Back was getting sore, and I’m sure my heart rate was elevated, but my breathing stayed normal. Surprised at my pace when Haz just did the math. I figured even with the help of the flat areas raising my average, it would still be below 3.0 mph. 
In honor of the abundantly colorful brittlebush, I put together a video of hiking flowers.
