Phoenix Traffic Stress Disorder

Phoenix Asshole Drivers Special

On Friday, July 13th, at about 6:50 a.m., I was heading up to the Mogollon Rim to hike McCarty Draw.

I was driving north on I-17, just south of Cordes Junction, doing 80 in a 75 zone, in the right lane. In my mirror, I saw a white panel van, in the left lane, approaching fast, maybe 90 mph.

White Panel Van got his nose in front of me, then slowed down to 80, pacing me. I thought nothing of it: Lots of people slow down when they pull alongside another vehicle. No idea why, but it is quite common.

A half mile later, I was approaching a semi in my right lane, and White Panel Van had still not completed his pass.

Not wishing to be run up the semi’s tailpipe, I accelerated, then pulled into the left lane ahead of White Panel Van. He immediately got right on my ass. So close, I couldn’t see his face in my rear view mirror!

I wondered what I did to piss the guy off. I was wishing I had installed the rear camera on my Z-Edge S4 Dual Dash Cam.

White Panel Van did not back off, so I took my foot off the gas — no brake: that would be dangerous! — and began gradually slowing down … 75 … 70 … 65 … 60 … 55.

White Panel Van was still on my ass. If anything, closer, so I sped up to put some distance on my rear bumper.

I was still in the left lane when White Panel Van caught up to me. He cut directly in front of me, slamming on his brakes. When I tried to evade right, he repeated the maneuver. What a psycho!

See for yourself …
