It seems like a lot of folks go to the same places as everyone else, and repeatedly do so. (Camelback, anyone? ) Other than “my backyard” hikes in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve, I try to avoid doing the same trail twice. And, if I do, I certainly avoid doing it the same way. I’ll vary direction, or add a side trip — anything to avoid getting in a rut!
I’ve hiked in Arizona (mostly), California, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. Overseas, I’ve hiked in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Scotland … and Iraq. I’ve been many more places, but not necessarily hiking.
